Door should be left open for UK to change decision on leaving the EU says Green Co-President in European Parliament

Ahead of the EU Summit today and tomorrow, the Co-President of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament, Ska Keller has suggested the UK will ‘find open doors’ if it decides to remain an EU member. Ms Keller said:

“It is clear that there cannot be a change in the withdrawal agreement. The EU27 need to send two clear messages from the summit: that they are united in defending EU principles and also that the UK would find open doors if the British people were to revise their decision.”

Welcoming the comments, which come after a night when Theresa May comfortably won a confidence vote, Molly, who is speaker on Brexit for the Green Party of England and Wales, said:

“By losing miserably last night, the Brextremists in the Tory Party have made their final desperate throw of the dice. This was really a vote of no confidence in the failed Brexit project.

“With so many in Europe apparently willing to welcome us back in prodigal son fashion, we need to quickly put an end to this miserable chapter in our country’s history. The easiest, fastest and fairest way out of this shambles is to have a People’s Vote. It’s time to do the democratic thing and give control back to the people.”
