A refusal by the Department for Exiting the EU (DExEU) to a Freedom of Information request by Molly has confirmed that the government is hiding impact studies on Brexit. Molly has been challenging ministers to release the studies and submitted the request for further details of a leaked study into the impacts of Brexit on the NHS.
In a response, the government confirm that DExEU “holds the information you have requested but are withholding it” under Sections 27, 29 and 35 of the FoI Act, ”which protect information that may prejudice international relations, the UK economy and the policy development process respectively”.
Molly said:
“So we finally have confirmation that the 50 secret studies do exist. Brexiteers are hiding information about the impact of Brexit and using sections of the FoI Act as cover. They are running scared of the truth. It is clear these studies reveal bad news about the economic impacts of their Brexit folly.”
