Correspondence with UK government on EU VAT rules

Molly wrote to Vince Cable, former Business Secretary, to raise concerns over the impact of changes to EU VAT regulation on small and micro-businesses in the UK. Molly posed several key questions to the Business Secretary:

  • Given the fact that these changes have been agreed for a number of years what consideration has been given to the negative impact on small and micro-businesses?
  • What has been undertaken in the way of a public information campaign by HMRC to prepare small businesses for these changes?
  • What has been done in advance to protect small and micro-businesses from these changes?

Letter in full to Vince Cable

It has taken five months for a response to be received, which cam from the Treasury. Molly has claimed the delay was politically motivated and demonstrates the government has “neglected the small businesses that are the backbone of our communities.”
