The article looks at the dominance of large banks in the financial services sector and how they would be making heavy losses without the implicit subsidies they enjoy as a result of the taxpayer guarantee. Now they want to go further and are seeking further public money to pay their contribution to the resolution funds being set up at national and EU level to protect European taxpayers from having to pay to clean up the mess left by failed banks in any future financial crisis.
